As a Support Worker in our supported accommodation service, your role is to provide responsive, consistent, and effective support tailored to the individual needs of young people within a semi-independent living environment. You'll be expected to actively promote their rights and help maintain a space that is anti-oppressive, inclusive, and values diversity. Working within Fairview's policies and procedures, you will contribute to a nurturing environment that encourages self-development, personal achievement, and the building of resilience. At the heart of your role is the safeguarding and well-being of each young person, which you will uphold through consistent, effective working practices.
Main Duties: Support Worker
Support and maintain a safe, inclusive, and anti-oppressive living environment.
Build and promote positive, trusting relationships with young people.
Safeguard and promote the well-being of each young person.
Work within the support worker role, maintaining accurate and timely records (including daily notes, financial transactions, and progress reports).
Collaborate effectively with professionals, families, and others involved in the young person's care.
Deliver Fairview's Independent Living Skills Programme and track progress.
Promote development of life skills, self-management of risks, and a broader knowledge base.
Address all Safeguarding and Child Exploitation concerns in line with policy and best practice.
Apply Person-Centred planning principles in daily practice.
Engage fully in professional supervision and reflective practice.
Complete required administrative tasks (risk assessments, handovers, reports, etc.).
Contribute to development of individual risk management strategies.
Attend and actively contribute to staff meetings and training sessions.
Support young people in accessing education, training, and employment.
Stay up to date with relevant legislation, best practices, and internal updates.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Data Protection Act.
Ensure compliance with all Fairview policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
Carry out health and safety checks and report any issues promptly.
Assist with general household tasks and cleaning duties as needed.
Approach conflict with resilience and a positive, solution-focused mindset.
Work flexibly within the rota, including sleep-ins and occasional waking nights.
