Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care and experience in various settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care. This role is vital in providing high-quality support to individuals with diverse needs, including those with Alzheimer's and dementia. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients through personalised care.

Responsibilities

Provide compassionate support to clients in assisted living, nursing homes, and home care settings. Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication administration. Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment. Implement behaviour management strategies as needed to ensure client safety and well-being. Conduct first aid as required and respond appropriately to emergencies. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote their physical and mental health. Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes in condition to the healthcare team. Perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist clients with mobility or transfers. Drive clients to appointments or social activities as needed.

Qualifications

Previous experience in caregiving or support roles is essential, particularly in senior care, hospice care, or similar environments. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care and dementia care practices is highly desirable. A background in nursing or relevant healthcare qualifications would be an advantage. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability. Valid driving licence preferred for transportation duties. Certification in first aid is beneficial but not mandatory; training may be provided.
