Bright Roots Housing provides safe, supported accommodation for individuals at risk of homelessness or with low-level support needs. We work closely with local authorities and partner organisations to ensure residents can live the life they choose in a home they love, while building the skills and confidence needed for long-term independence.
Role Purpose
As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting residents to sustain their tenancies, develop life skills, and progress towards independent living. You will provide practical assistance, emotional support, and signposting to relevant services, ensuring each resident has a personalised support plan that reflects their goals and needs.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome and induct new residents, completing initial needs assessments.
Develop and regularly review personalised support plans with residents.
Provide practical day-to-day support, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and accessing local services.
Support residents in applying for benefits, managing rent payments, and addressing tenancy issues.
Encourage positive routines, wellbeing, and engagement in community or training opportunities.
Monitor and record residents' progress in line with organisational policies and procedures.
Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and escalate where required.
Liaise with referral agencies, local authorities, and other professionals involved in residents' care.
Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive living environment.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience working with vulnerable people, ideally in housing, homelessness, or social care.
Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations.
Organised and able to maintain accurate records.
Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
Desirable
Knowledge of housing benefit, universal credit, and tenancy sustainment.
NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
Full UK driving licence.
