Support Worker - Children & Young People (Supported Accommodation)The Role
We are looking for a
Support Worker
to join our team, supporting young people aged 16-18 (and care leavers) living in supported accommodation. You will play a key role in helping young people build independence, confidence and life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
Supporting young people to settle into their accommodation and local community
Building positive, professional relationships with young people
Supporting daily living skills such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, cleaning and personal care
Encouraging engagement in education, training, employment, or apprenticeships
Promoting healthy lifestyles, including hygiene, routines, positive relationships and awareness of risks (e.g. drugs and alcohol)
Supporting young people to attend appointments and access local services
Maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries at all times
Working with professionals such as social workers, personal advisers, education providers and health professionals
Completing daily logs, incident reports and basic paperwork using digital systems
Attending team meetings, training and supervision
Carrying out basic weekly health and safety checks within the accommodation
Reporting safeguarding or welfare concerns to senior staff promptly
Managing challenging behaviour calmly and appropriately, in line with policies and training
What We're Looking For
Essential
Experience working with children or young people
or
a strong interest in this field
Good communication skills
Basic IT skills (for digital records)
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Right to work in the UK
Desirable
Experience in supported accommodation, semi-independent or residential settings
Knowledge of safeguarding and Ofsted environments
Experience supporting care leavers
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
