SUPPORT WORKER
JOB TITLE: Support Worker
REPORTS TO: Senior Support Worker/ Nurse in Charge/ Deputy Manager/Clinical Lead
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Home Manager
SCOPE OF THE POST
A Support Worker is required to join with other members of staff to help in providing person centred support required by each Service User, making sure that each one retains as much dignity and individuality as possible. Under supervision and within the limits of personal experience and knowledge, a Support Worker plays a major part in creating a happy, empowering, respectful and caring atmosphere, is involved in a wide range of general support services and duties, and is expected to adopt a totally flexible approach and attitude to the challenges of the post. All employees are requested to follow Company Policy and Procedures and follow the Service Users Charter, which are detailed in separate documents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? To ensure that service users support is provided in a pleasant, homely and safe environment.
? To support service users who need assistance with intimate and personal care.
? To support service users who have limited mobility making the best use of aids provided.
? To support in the Day Centre where the home has one (Crescent & Alicia)
? To have an understanding of MCA and DoLS
? To support service users to maintain their continence, providing comfort and dignity.
? To provide opportunity for mental and physical stimulation to service users by talking to them and helping them to continue with hobbies and activities in and outside the Home.
? To respond to all call bells promptly including, answering the door and telephone.
? To make and change beds, tidy rooms and complete general household chores, including the emptying and cleaning of commodes and waste bins. This may also include food shopping supporting kitchen staff when present including completing kitchen forms and cleaning wheel chairs and mobility equipment
? To assist service users and support at meal times with eating and drinking etc and to lay tables and trays, serve meals, wash up, prepare light meals where requiring and clear and tidy dining room(s).
? To provide and support activities designed to offer mental and physical stimulation to service users in line with their wishes and preferences both inside and outside of the homes facilitating opportunities for community engagement and participation, practising and providing opportunities both existing interests and hobbies and the chance to try new experiences and activities such as swimming, going to the cinema etc.
? To check, mend, launder and iron service users clothing.
? To report any suspected/alleged abuse to the person in charge and follow the SOVA procedure.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: From 12.25 per hour
Expected hours: 21 - 42 per week
