Job Description

We are looking for considerate people with a caring nature, who would gain enjoyment in helping others. You will be working within a team, supporting people in their own homes gaining job satisfaction on a daily basis. The support worker plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to individuals who may be elderly, disabled, or otherwise in need of assistance with daily activities. The role centers on helping people maintain their dignity, independence, and quality of life, whilst supporting their social, emotional, and physical well-being. The role may require shift work and working weekends. Support workers must follow strict protocols regarding health, safety, infection control, and safeguarding. The work can be physically demanding, requiring manual handling and long periods on your feet. You must have a driving license and your own vehicle.

Experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential. All staff are registered for the care certificate. First Aid, Moving and Handling, Safeguarding and medication courses may be achieved in post if successful. A warm, outgoing and caring personality. Empathy, with the ability to respect and reassure anxious or worried service users as they may be in very poor health, elderly, disabled or have mental health problems. Good spoken and written communications skills. A strong sense of responsibility and a serious attitude to work. Good timekeeping and organisational skills. Ability to work in a team.

This position involves a regulated activity and will require an Enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS). The disclosure will, where appropriate to the role, include information against the independent safeguarding authority barred lists for working with children, adults or both.

28 days holiday per year including 8 public holidays. Company pension scheme. Full-time/Part-time. Flexible working hours. Zero-hour contract.

Salary starts at 12.80 per hour whilst under training and once fully operational 13.00 plus per hour.

Main Responsibilities



Personal Care

Providing direct support with personal hygiene, including bathing, washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming. This may involve using specialist equipment, assisting with mobility, and always ensuring comfort and privacy.

Assistance with Meals

Supporting clients with eating and drinking. This can include preparing food, helping to feed those with limited mobility, monitoring dietary needs, and ensuring that nutritional requirements are met.

Medication Support

Assisting with the administration of prescribed medication, adhering to set protocols and care plans. Support workers may also help remind clients to take medication and report any adverse reactions to medical staff or family members.

Mobility Assistance

Helping individuals to move safely within their environment, whether from bed to chair, around the home, or on outings. This may include using hoists, wheelchairs, walking frames, or other mobility aids.

Emotional and Social Support

Providing companionship, engaging clients in conversation, listening to concerns, and encouraging participation in social or recreational activities. Care assistants play a key role in combating loneliness and fostering emotional resilience.

Household Tasks

Undertaking light domestic duties such as cleaning, laundry, tidying, and maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for clients.

Monitoring and Reporting

Observing changes in clients' health, behaviour, or circumstances and reporting concerns to senior staff, nurses, or family members. Accurate record-keeping is essential to maintain continuity of care.

End-of-Life Care

Providing sensitive and dignified support to individuals and their families during palliative care or at the end of life, including emotional support and adherence to comfort care plans.

Willingness to undertake training in areas such as health and safety, Care Certificate, manual handling, medication administration, First Aid and safeguarding vulnerable adults

This role can give opportunities for personal and professional growth within the company. With experience and further training, support workers may progress to roles such as Senior care roles/team leaders.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: 12.80-13.30 per hour

Expected hours: 5 - 40 per week
