Job Summary:
The support worker will work as part of a team to provide effective addiction recovery and housing support services to assist and support services users develop their capacity to live independently free from addiction.
Purpose:
The support worker will work directly with the resident to provide effective 24 hours support services within accommodation units. The support worker will assist in the provision of high quality professional housing support services to those who are affected by alcohol/gambling misuse and or related problems.
Support workers will undertake needs and risk assessments which form part of the support planning process, addressing identified needs, aspirations and goals. Support workers will also work in partnership with service user's family members/close friends and other health professionals.
The successful candidate will require:
? NVQ Level 2
or
4 GCSE's at Grade C or above (including Maths and English)
or
an equivalent qualification.
? One year's full time relevant experience within the past five years of working directly with people in a supportive role. This experience must include proven ability working directly with individuals with complex needs or with people presenting with any of the following:
Substance/Gambling addiction
Homelessness
Vulnerable adults
? Ability to carry out needs and risk assessments and undertake support planning.
? Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation for working with vulnerable adults.
? Knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to Health & Safety and Data Protection
? Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally including report writing, and the ability to converse with a diverse range of people at all levels.
? Effective organisational skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.
? Good computer skills to include a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
? Ability to work as part of a team with a caring and positive disposition.
? Flexible and adaptable approach to working arrangements and shift patterns.
