Job Description

The role of the support worker role is to provide care and support to clients within the busy treatment centre environment. The role is diverse and challenging but highly rewarding. As well as supporting clients you will support senior staff in delivering effective treatment. Experience of working in substance is helpful but not essential. The rehabilitation of clients with substance misuse issues is the primary purpose and this involves pharmacological intervention and structured psychosocial interventions in a safe environment. The support worker will be working with and supporting individuals and groups. Main objectives for the support worker are to; assist clients and to help them with their treatment journey; encourage and promote abstinent recovery as part of carrying roles and responsibilities; ensure a safe environment for all clients and staff; support clients in decision making and behavioural change as well as supporting clients in the successful completion of their treatment journey with the Company.

The successfull applicant will recieve mandatory training and regular supervision from management. You will be trained in handling medication safely and you will be leading medication rounds with the support of your colleagues.

This role involves cleaning rooms and other parts of the home throughout the night.

The role requires you to have



1. Possession of (or preparedness to work to) a NVQ Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or similar.

2. Evidenced training or experience in the substance misuse field and models of service delivery.

3. Good organisational skills and time management skills in relation to own workload.

4. Good verbal and written communication skills at all levels, including for reporting purposes.

5. Good administration skills and strong customer service skills.

6. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of team in a collaborative and supportive manner.

7. Knowledge of Health and Safety, including assessing high-risk situations.

8. Ability to manage and defuse crises effectively.

9. Ability to express empathy and a non-judgemental attitude with a calm, caring approach.

10. Ability to respond flexibly to the demands of the role.

11. Ability to have an appreciation of and work effectively with people from a diverse background.

Desirable criteria - Experience of residential work/community based rehab.
