Sandycroft, WLS, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

SUPPORT WORKER / PERSONAL ASSISTANT REQUIRED

Reference Number: VAC/1025/06242 Closing Date: 12/11/2025

Summary:

I am a young lady seeking a compassionate, reliable and proactive individual to provide support as I work towards increasing my skills, confidence and independence. The role is ideal for someone who is passionate about empowerment, personal development and helping others reach their full potential.

The focus of this position is to assist me in building like skills, and engaging more fully in community activities. Together, we will work together towards greater independence and self sufficiency in every day life.

About the role

I

am a 19 year old young lady and live in Sandycroft with my parents, and my miniature dachshund puppy

I have a learning disability so require some assistance some aspects of my life, and I also experience difficulties with my mental health.

I love arts and crafts, and enjoy spending time drawing. I have been told that I am talented with this, and particularly love drawing anything to do with Disney which is one of my passions.

I enjoy spending days out at the coast, I am a keen cook and can bake some delicious cakes and enjoy a game of Bingo, and also listening to pop music. I enjoy visiting cafes and going shopping.

In the future I would like to look at doing a course that involves working with animals as I am a very keen animal lover and having a job in the future working with animals would be great. An aim to possibly explore volunteering work at a kennels or grooming salon may be one of my goals to build up to.

I have so much potential and in many aspects of my life I am independent but there are other areas of my life where I need some extra support to be able to reach my goals.

I would like support to develop skills that will boost my confidence and build my independence for example I would like support to learn how to use public transport, I would like assistance to build on skills using money and budgeting and helping to plan a meal, purchase the recipes and make a meal = all skills that will be important when I eventually move into a supported living home.

I need a helping hand to to build my social networks - exploring and trying out different groups in the local community such as the arts and craft group at Ty Calon.

Without support, I could become socially isolated which then impacts my mental health, so I need lots of encouragement and support to open up opportunities to engage and meet other people and make friends.

I would like to employ someone who can sit down with me and plan together what we will do and how I will achieve my goals.

One of the main areas of my life which I would like to focus on is to help me find ways to ensure my voice is heard in a way that works for me.

I am very much a people pleaser and frequently will say yes when asked my opinion when really I think something else but feel unable to be truly myself and open . I would like to be empowered to express my views and opinions freely and will need gradual support to achieve this - looking at ways that work for me.

It will take time building up trust and slowly getting to know each other. Having someone new in my life may initially be overwhelming for me so it is vital that it is done at my pace.

The right person will be part of making a true difference in my life, and it will be so rewarding and enriching being able to be part of my journey increasing my independence, empowering me and building my self-worth and helping me create a more confident, independent life.

The kind of person I am looking for

It's crucial to understand that support needs to be tailored to my specific strengths and challenges. I would like someone with some experiences of working with an individual with mental health difficulties as I may discuss areas of my life where I struggle and I need to feel confident and have the trust to be open without judgement. It would be great to be able to find someone who will focus on my strengths and celebrate progress Some of the support may be within the family home so you must be comfortable working in a family home environment. Ideally you need to have previous experience of helping an individual reach their goals / outcomes working with a person centred approach at all times. You must be able to provide encouragement, reassurance and praise You will need to have a clean and full driving licence and access to a vehicle. An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate

What you can expect from me

? A friendly and welcoming workplace where you will feel valued
? We are offering a very friendly and supportive working environment, and the chance to develop your skills
? Access to training and learning opportunities.
? To be able to make a positive difference in our daughters life.
? 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)
? Good rate of pay.
? Access to an Employment Support Scheme

Days and Times required:

My Direct Payment is for 10 hours per week for an initial 3 months with a view that this will be extended.

I am not really a morning person so would prefer the support to start in the afternoons.
I am looking for 2- 3 sessions per week (3 - 4 hours per session as I can tire easily due to my medication)

At least one of the sessions ideally needs to be on a Saturday or Sunday as I can feel isolated and down if I have not got plans - even every other weekend. This may be more of social support such as shopping or going to a cafe

The other two sessions will be during the week - focusing on trying out social / activity groups in the local community and also developing life skills which may involve support at home such as encouraging and prompting me to tidy my bedroom or plan and cook a meal.

I am currently recovering from a broken ankle so support may be more within the home at the moment.
