Purposes of the job
To contribute to the effective day to day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Governing documents, Standards and Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards.
To help develop and maintain safe and inspiring one-to-one and group support work both on and off site.
To maintain high standards of practice in supporting families within the ethos of Home-Start.
To ensure inclusion and diversity in all aspects of the scheme's operation and work.
Under the direction of the Perinatal Coordinator, the PIMHS Support worker will undertake the following tasks:
Main Responsibilities
Assist in delivery of the Flourishing Futures project and associated activities.
Contribute to the scheme's administration, monitoring and evaluation systems including Home-Start Reports and Lamplight.
To attend and contribute to regular Team Briefings / Staff Meetings.
To attend meetings on behalf of Home-Start, as appropriate and as directed by the Scheme Manager.
Support for families
Introduce families to appropriate support services and group activities for children and parent/carers.
Supporting families to interact and bond with their children.
Supporting families with all paperwork such as child benefit applications, amending Universal Credit claims, medical appointments and assisting them to access relevant support.
Liaising with relevant specialist agencies e.g. Health visitors, BABS, SPMH and Children's Social Care.
Attending TAFs and other multi agency meetings with the families.
Group work
Ensuring that any group support is effectively managed and controlled.
Ensuring that Flourishing Futures is effectively monitored, and adequate information is recorded.
Assisting staff in developing the project to meet the needs of our families and of the Scheme.
Safeguarding - To undertake responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting children's welfare in line with Home-Start Knowsley Policies and Procedures
Working in Partnership
Complete all reports as directed for own caseloads.
Contribute to Early Help Assessment.
Liaise with referrers.
Attend and contribute to regular planning meetings.
Networking appropriately within the community.
Presenting to our stakeholders, referrers and other professionals to raise awareness of Home-Start Knowsley.
Managing the Wider Context
Promoting the scheme, its profile, ethos and practice.
Contributing to the development of Home-Start locally, regionally and nationally.
Contributing to social media pages and its contents.
The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.
The Scheme Manager will deliver 6 weekly supervisions, this will also incorporate direct input from the Perinatal Coordinator from their oversight of diary and caseload activity in support of the Flourishing Futures Project needs.

Knowledge of early attachment and the impact of parental mental health issues on child development.

A comprehensive knowledge of local services and networks available to support families during the perinatal period.
Knowledge and understanding of the impact poverty has on families and children's life chances
Other Requirements
Eligible to work in the UK
Willing to access training
Hold a full clean driving licence and have the use of a vehicle for work purposes
Commitment to flexible working, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Qualifications required
Qualified to NVQ Level 3/equivalent or above in a relevant subject
Experience as a volunteer or working with volunteers and making a positive impact.
Experience of working with or supporting families and making a positive impact.
