We have an opportunity for a Bank Support Worker to provide support to a 20-year-old man with cerebral palsy who lives in Pontypridd. He requires assistance with all personal care, eating / drinking (PEG fed) and all toileting needs. He is sling hoisted for all transfers and uses eye gaze, very competently to communicate.


He is a keen football fan and enjoys following this on TV and also attending Manchester United home games. He enjoys chatting and interacting with others (although not when the footie is on!).


You will be required to support with all daily living needs, helping to access hydrotherapy pool, carry out a physiotherapy plan and support him to access social activities. You will also need to complete all aspects of domestic support in order to keep his environment clean. You will be joining an established team of 5 support workers.

What you'll be working:




Bank support worker required

Location:

Client's home and community in the Pontypridd area

Shifts Pattern:




Tuesday 14.00 Wednesday 10.30 (alternate)


Wednesday 14.00 through to Thursday 10.30


Friday 14.00 through to Saturday 11.00


Saturday 11.00 through to Sunday 11.00 (alternate weeks)


Sunday 18.00 through to Monday 10.30 (alternate weeks)


Shifts are worked on a 2:1 basis.

Salary:




Weekday rate -15.00 per hour, Weekend day -16.15 per hour


Weekday night (sleep shift) - 13.16 per hour, Weekend night (sleep shift) - 13.70 per hour

What you'll be doing:



Some of the main roles & responsibilities:





To ensure consistency of approach with the client in accordance with advised approaches to care and any emerging therapy aims. To liaise with and support the family as required. To work as part of a team and communicate appropriately with fellow team members. To follow the service user plan as documented for the client. To participate in manual handling procedures as specified for the client. To ensure opportunity is given to participate in activities as identified by client / others while achieving a balance between work and rest for the client. To deliver programmes of educational, social and therapeutic development as directed by the relevant professionals and the client's mother. To assist the client to ensure an adequate level of hygiene is maintained. To be aware of any significant changes in the client's health, functioning or behaviour, and inform the client's family, case manager as appropriate. To encourage the client's independence as far as possible.

What you'll have:



Previous experience in a similar role would be preferred A full driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive the clients vehicle. You must be registered with OR working towards registration with Social Care Wales A recognised Health and Social Care qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) is desirable

This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS.



You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
