As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals in need of assistance. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care and support to clients in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. You will work closely with clients to ensure their physical, emotional, and social needs are met while promoting independence and dignity.
Duties
Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation
Provide patient care and support for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other cognitive impairments
Administer medication as prescribed and monitor client health conditions
Engage in behaviour management techniques to support clients with challenging behaviours
Facilitate social interactions and encourage participation in activities to enhance well-being
Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment
Assist with heavy lifting as required for client mobility or transfers
Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes in health status to the appropriate personnel
Drive clients to appointments or social outings as necessary
Requirements
Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or similar caregiving roles is preferred
Knowledge of senior care practices, including hospice care and home care principles
Familiarity with first aid procedures and emergency response protocols
Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs
Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to caregiving
Valid driving licence is advantageous for transporting clients
Certification in medication administration is a plus
Experience in childcare may be beneficial for those working with younger clients or families
