We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care, particularly with seniors and individuals suffering from conditions such as Alzheimer's and dementia. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients through personalised support and assistance.
Duties
Provide compassionate personal care to clients, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Support clients with meal preparation and ensure they receive proper nutrition.
Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health status.
Assist with mobility and transportation needs, including driving clients to appointments or social activities.
Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with challenging behaviours.
Maintain accurate records of client care and report any concerns to the supervising nurse or manager.
Perform light housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe environment for clients.
Assist with heavy lifting when necessary to support client mobility.
Requirements
Previous experience in caregiving, particularly in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, and senior care practices is essential.
Certification in First Aid is preferred; additional training in medication administration is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the needs of the client.
A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients as needed.
