Monday: 15:00pm - 18:00pm
Wednesday: 15:00pm - 18:00pm
Thursday: 09:00am - 15:00pm/16:00pm and 17:00pm - 21:00pm
Saturday: 12:00pm - 17:00pm (2 per month)
Sunday: 12:00pm - 17:00pm
Overnight and weekend respite will also be required at the client's request along with support during the family holidays.
Flexibility is required to cover for holidays and sickness.
Previous experience desirable but not essential:
- Background/training in epilepsy
- Background/training in cerebral palsy

About the role:
We are looking for two support workers to cover the above shifts to provide support to our client in his homa and in the community. This will involve taking an active role in his care, under the supervision of appointed therapy professionals.
Our client attends voluntary work on a Thursday, 09:00am to 15:00pm, and requires support to attend and complete his voluntary work.
Our client has a goal of receiving respite from support overnight and at weekends at his request. The respite will be put into place when the successful candidate has obtained a good working relationship with the client and has a full understanding of his needs and support. The respite will take place at the family home with the goal to providing support away from the family home so the client can attend weekend breaks away at his choice of destination.
Our client also attends family holiday and support during the family holidays may be requested.
A private case manager is involved working alongside the client and his family. A full induction training programme will be organised in order to familiarise the successful candidate with our client's needs and complete training on his therapy programme.
About the client:
Our client is a 22-year-old male who suffers with the effects of cerebral palsy due to complications at birth. This has affected his development, mobility, cognition, and social and emotional development.
Our client also has autism, occipital epilepsy, he has a severe visual impairment and is long sighted.
Our client is outgoing, confident and has a great sense of humour. He is adventurous and enjoys taking part in many activities such as bowling, darts, pool and climbing etc.
Key roles and responsibilities:
To provide assistance with all of the client's care requirements.
To administer medication as prescribed and to maintain associated medication records.
To support the client to prepare and cook meals.
To ensure that the client engages in activities of his choice in and outside of the home.
To promote the client's wellbeing and happiness.
To provide assistance with all aspects of the client's ongoing rehabilitation under the supervision of treating doctors and therapists.
To maintain a safe environment for the client, in the home and in all community-based activities (subject to completion of risk assessment training).
To follow the support programme agreed with the case manager, therapists, and the client.
To be responsible for domestic chores linked with the client's overall care. These will include laundry, ironing, and cleaning, and any additional tasks in the interests of providing a safe, clean, and efficient environment.
To advise the family, or where appropriate the case manager, of any concerns regarding the client's physical and psychological health.
To use initiative when unforeseen events occur and the family/case manager are not directly available to provide guidance.
To work as a member of a small team responsible to the case manager and to ensure good communication, flexibility, and a consistent approach to care.
To attend support worker meetings and training sessions as requested.
To make a daily report following each duty regarding the client's welfare.
To liaise with case manager for annual leave requests and alerting the case manager of sickness that will prevent them working, in order that cover can be organised.
To report to the case manager regarding general progress and any incidents that give rise for concern.
