What is the role?

This service is the home of 6 males with physical disabilities. They live in their own self-contained flat within our complex. You will be working with these incredible individuals to support with day to day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support.

The service promotes the importance of the \xe2\x80\x9cdo with and not do for\xe2\x80\x9d approach and has had a very positive impact on these incredible individuals.

The individuals we support have different personalities with different likes and hobbies like going to the gym, going to football matches and surfing. By being part of this team, you would play an influential role in enabling the people we support to lead fulfilling and independent lives and see first-hand how you make a difference to them.

You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:

  • Medication administration
  • Cooking skills and other household skills
  • Some personal care needs
  • Accessing the community and supporting to local groups
  • Supporting with individuals\' hobbies and activities such as walking/hiking
  • Being a team player and having good communication skills
  • Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard
  • Supporting individuals to budget finances
  • Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing
  • Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence
  • Take the people we support out and about therefore a full manual driving licence is essential for this role
  • Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties
  • Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working
  • Supporting Individuals with their individual needs
We have 20 and 24 hour permanent contracts available. You will be required to work various shift patterns including sleep in shifts.

We plan our rota to ensure that you get every other weekend off.

It is important you are committed and able to commit to the shift patterns in this service.

What skills and experience do you need?

***A full UK manual driving licence is required for this role***

A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;

  • An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people\'s lives
  • A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player

  • An hourly rate of \xc2\xa311.05 making the annual salary \xc2\xa321,260 (FTE)
