Role Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our Swansea team. You will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with complex needs, including care leavers and those at risk of homelessness, helping them progress towards independent living.
This role requires professionalism, empathy, strong safeguarding awareness, and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day practical and emotional support to young people
Support residents with independence skills (budgeting, cooking, routines, appointments)
Maintain safe, supportive, and stable accommodation environments
Deliver key working sessions and support plans in line with individual needs
Record accurate case notes and contribute to reviews and outcomes
Work in line with safeguarding policies and report concerns appropriately
Liaise with external professionals (social workers, education, health services)
Promote positive behaviour, boundaries, and independence
Participate in shift work, including evenings and weekends where required
Essential Requirements
Enhanced DBS check (Children's Workforce) - essential
Previous experience working in supported accommodation, care, or youth services
Strong understanding of safeguarding children and young people
Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Right to work in the UK
Desirable Criteria
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
Experience working with care leavers, UASC, or vulnerable young people
Knowledge of trauma-informed or person-centred approaches
Full UK driving licence
