About the people and their home
People living at Hersham Road enjoy doing the following activities: golf, cricket, football, going to the cinema, companion cycling, gardening, dancing, karaoke, parties, walks by the river and in parks, bus rides, community centre activities, pamper sessions, knitting & chatting, arts and crafts, jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, card games and trips out to London Zoo, Chessington world of adventures, Brighton and other local attractions.
They have very active lives and different goals. Some like sports, while others prefer more relaxing activities to keep their minds and bodies active.
The support workers work closely with the members of Hersham Road to achieve their goals and dreams. They are supported in attending voluntary jobs like helping at the allotments, church yard and being a member of Unity. Being part of the community is very important to them, and they are supported in accessing many activities at the local community centres including exercise classes, Zumba, bingo, knitting club, yoga and live entertainment. The support workers work with them and their families to help them achieve more independence and develop daily living skills, including cooking, baking, going on holidays, to university, and help them attend all their appointments. Currently, one of the ladies is knitting a blanket for charity!
Being a Support Worker at Hersham Road is a rewarding and fulfilling job.
