Job Description

A lovely gentleman, living at home in Duns, is looking for a couple of Personal Assistants to join his small team that offer him support 24 hours a day. The client is generally a very happy individual with a lovely personality and sense of humour who is fully support by his family to enable him to live as independently as possible.

He doesn't like too much noise or crowded places, fire alarms or other high pitched noises. If he gets bored he can become agitated but he has many sensory items which help to keep him occupied. He enjoys swimming, horse riding and going out in the car. He wants to feel happy, safe and relaxed in his own home

Terms:



Hours per week: Up to 26 hours per week plus additional leave cover

Hours of work: likely to be: Mon 8-2, wed 8-3, Thur 8-2 and Fri 9-4 one week and Mon 8-5:30, Fri 8-4 and Sat 12-9/9:30 plus sleepovers

13.20 per hour/sleepover rate of 12.60 per hour

Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata

Probationary period of 6 months

Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership



Main Tasks & Responsibilities



To support a client to ensure their safety and well-being.

To support with personal care needs including:

o Washing and dressing.

o Continence care and management.

o Hair washing.

o Nail care.

To support with general care needs such as:

o Meal preparation.

o Support with eating and drinking, ensuring safe practices followed when eating/drinking.

To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client's equipment and surroundings.

To develop a positive relationship with the client and his family.

To support to live as independent a life as possible

To interact with the client and support them with activities they enjoy, in the home and local community including driving them in their own car.

To work alongside a family member or another member of the team when required but to work independently too.

Ensuring good communication with the whole team and family, provide clear handovers to the next team member.

To accompany the client on short trips out of the house for appointments or social activities.

Report any concerns back to family.

Skills and Experience



Knowledge of, learning disabilities, those on the Autistic Spectrum, first aid and food hygiene would be desirable but not essential as training can be provided.

Training will also be provided on Lujan Fryns syndrome and the clients individual communication needs and preferences as well as correct support for the clients eating and drinking needs.

Driving experience and a clean driving licence is desirable as the client has a Motability vehicle and needs to get out and about on a regular basis.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.20 per hour

Expected hours: 26 per week
