PERSONAL ASSISTANT / SUPPORT WORKER REQUIRED

About the role:
I am 19 years old and I live with my mum and brother near Mold.
I am a very sociable person and love to people watch! I enjoy getting out and about to places such as cafes, shopping, the zoo, bowling and generally being busy. I enjoy going swimming which I am hoping to go with my Personal Assistants.
I go to a group in Mold on a Monday with support from a Personal Assistant.
I also enjoy relaxing and it is important to me to have support from individuals during these times whether it just be interaction, having some girly time (such as painting my nails), being read a book or having a massage.
I have complex learning and physical disabilities which means that I I need help with all walks of life including my personal care (including showering, changing my pad and dressing) and feeding. I am non-verbal so rely on individuals being able to anticipate and identify when I require support. I also have epilepsy.
I am wheelchair dependent and use a hoist with all transfers. Due to this, my support for these tasks is 2:1.
I have a peg for food/drink and have a blended diet which has really benefited my health.
My mum is my biggest advocate and became an employer with Direct Payments to enable me to have support from people I know and trust which is very important to me.
We would like to build a good reliable team of PAs to come with me into adulthood and be part of my journey.
The kind of person I'm looking for:
I am looking for someone who has lots of patience, who is very kind, encouraging and has a calm approach.
I'm looking for someone who is caring and compassionate. They need to someone who will interact with me and give me ideas on things we can do together.
I need you to have an NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, and full training will be provided on my needs and likes and dislikes
I have my own large vehicle to go out and about so you will need to be a confident driver with a clean license
You must have an element of flexibility and be very reliable.
The ideal person will have a good sense of humour and be able to spend time getting to know me. It will be a gradual process.
As I am none verbal - it is important that the successful individuals are assertive and able to anticipate my needs/recognise my demeanour and be calm and proactive when needed.
They should work in a way which promotes independence and supports abilities and strengths.
If you have an up to date moving and handling passport qualification - that would be an advantage although full training can be provided.
Enhanced DBS must be in place prior to support starting - the DBS is completed as no cost by my Local Authority

Days and Times required:
The hours are very flexible and can be discussed to suit us both, but we require you to assist me to a group I go to on a Monday which is 9am until 5.30pm + any other as and when
Additional hours may be available for more social support
it is also to help with respite can involve sleeping overnight once or twice per month, flexibility and reliability is extremely important as I will form a bond with you.
Necessary Training (can be completed during induction into the role):
PA Induction certificate which will form part of the induction into the role
First Aid
Moving and Handling passport
Epilepsy Awareness
Hourly Rate:
Salary starting at 18 per hour increasing to 20 per hour if you have NVQ level 3 which is paid via payroll every 4 weeks.
