Job Description

My client is seeking a Home Manager for supporting accommodations.

Purpose of Role: To manage the day-to-day operations of a supported accommodation home in accordance with the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 and associated statutory guidance. The Homes Manager is responsible for ensuring high standards of care, safety, and support for young people aged 16+, while leading a team to deliver person-centred, trauma-informed and outcome-focused support.

Key Responsibilities:

? Oversee daily operations, maintaining order and quality standards within the home. ? Build strong, positive relationships with young people while maintaining professional boundaries

? Lead, supervise and motivate the staff team, ensuring effective handovers, communication and rota management.

? Authorise shift swaps and floating support requests, and ensure adequate staffing coverage at all times.

? Ensure the accommodation meets safety, security and suitability standards at all times.

? Manage daily, weekly/monthly reports and staff schedule, providing weekly feedback to your team.

? Maintain maintenance trackers on Joblogic, ensuring they are reviewed and updated weekly.

? Maintain oversight of visitor checks, including singing in, ID verification and uploading visitor record ontot the system.

? Ensure the calendar is maintained, accurately recording all appointments, meetings and weekly schedules for service users.

? Ensure all risk assessments are live documents, regularly reviewed, signed by the Safeguarding Lead, and read by staff.

? Ensure all young people have fully completed and up-to-date profiles and safety plans and support plans.

? Ensure accurate, timely record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures, GDPR, and Ofsted regulatory requirements.

? Complete incident reports immediately following any incident and escalate to management, following internal reporting protocols.

? Understand and issue warning letters under warning and strike procedure where necessary.

? Regularly review and ensure staff are proficient in all key policies including safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, staffing policy and record keeping.

? Uphold and apply policies, procedures, and legislation relevant to supported accommodation, health & safety, fire safety, safeguarding.

? Promote a culture of safeguarding and wellbeing, ensuring the welfare of young people is prioritised at all times.

? Immediately report any concerns to management and DSL in line with safeguarding procedures and policy.

? Understand and enforce missing persons protocols and ensure all young people have appropriate safety plans.

? Ensure you are aware of the supported accommodation guidance and regulation. Including what constitutes a serious notifiable incident and the notification of serious incidents procedure.

? Manage stressful or volatile situations calmly, lead by example and apply de-escalation and behaviour management techniques

? Maintain supervision and support within the home 24/7 through effective rota and staff coordination.

? Set daily and weekly targets for young people, in collaboration with the team through support planning.

? Promote independent living, confidence building, self awareness, and participation in Education, employment, training and/or Activities

? Support young people in developing independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, to develop essential life skills.

? Ensure support plans, keywork sessions, and daily routines are reviewed and updated monthly.

? Promote and facilitate young people's active involvement in decision-making regarding their care, support plans, and all decisions that affect them, ensuring their voice is heard, respected and recorded.

? Support young people to understand their rights, including how to raise concerns or complaints through the appropriate procedures.

? Plan and facilitate monthly resident meetings, in house activities and quarterly external trips.

? Deliver monthly supervisions, meaningful performance reviews, and support ongoing staff development.

? Provide regular feedback to the Registered Service Manager on areas of good practice and improvement following weekly and monthly reviews.

? Actively participate in the recruitment, onboarding, performance management and dismissal processes as required.

? Identify team training needs and ensure relevant training is sourced, completed and embedded into day to day practice.

? Promote a culture of learning, accountability, respect, inclusion and professional boundaries within the service.

? Attend, prepare and contribute to professional meetings (LAC Reviews, MAP Meetings, Placement Planning, Strategy Meetings).

? Liaise effectively and professionally with social workers, families, advocates, and external agencies.

? Ensure floating support is arranged for eternal appointments or meetings where young people require accompaniment.

? Communicate information in a factual, unbiased, and timely manner to all stakeholders.

? Conduct weekly fire tests, hygiene checks, and health & safety audits, promptly escalating any issues to maintenance.

? Manage the maintenance tracker and stock requirements, ensuring the home remains fully furnished and standards upheld.

? Ensure all rooms are prepared to move-in standards with appropriate welcome packs available.

? Coordinate weekly food bank collections to ensure emergency food/toiletry supplies are available.

? Support young people to manage personal finances, subsistence, and financial planning, through effective budgeting.

? Ensure UC and benefit applications are completed before each young person turns

? Promote financial independence through practical advice and keywork sessions. 9. Engagement & Culture

? Promote a nurturing, inclusive, and high-standard home environment.

? Lead bi-weekly team meetings to review young people's goals, incident management and service improvement

? Support young people to shape and monitor the services they receive, promoting real choice and control.

? Actively support birthday celebrations, milestones and religious/festive celebrations, ensuring these are acknowledged and planned in advance.

Essential Skills & Experience:

? Minimum 2-3 years' experience in supported accommodation, residential care or youth work.

? Level 5 NVQ Health and Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to work towards this within a specified timeframe.

? Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management, trauma-informed care, mental health, CSE, gang affiliation and substance misuse.

? Proficient in behaviour management, de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution.

? Excellent written, verbal and IT skills, with the ability to maintain accurate, high-quality records and reports.

? Proven track record of team leadership and/or managing a supported housing or residential team.

? Knowledge of welfare benefits, including application processes for young people transitioning to independence.

? Ability to manage stressful situations calmly and maintain high standards of professional conduct.

Desirable:

? Level 5 NVQ Health and Social Care or equivalent.

? Familiarity with the Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023 and Ofsted's supported accommodation

Note: This role is regulated under the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023. The postholder must ensure ongoing compliance with the relevant Quality Standards, safeguarding expectations, and inspection readiness at all times.
