Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Progression to Learning & Work department as a Supported Internship Coordinator


The Supported Internship Coordinator will be working in partnership with a main employer and others to support and guide a range of learners with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) on their Supported Internship study programme. The programme is fully immersed within the host business. The coordinator will manage the programme by liaising with the host employer and other external organisations. They will also deliver work skills to enable the learners to excel. Close liaison with families is also an essential part of this role. Success is measured by the number of learners entering full time competitive paid employment.





Responsibilities include:







Carry out preparation and reflection workshops, support and guide interns to develop employability skills and promote independence to work within an integrated employment setting.

Work alongside the employer, mentor where relevant, job coach and teaching assistant to contribute to the interns' development of employability and other skills within their workplace setting

To raise the profile of Project Search in employer organisations by showcasing the benefits and positive outcomes Project Search offers to interns and employers

Liaise with the job coach, employer, parents, carers, intern, and internal/external agencies and professionals to plan and implement the appropriate support on an ongoing basis and in relation to their job role. Review and adapt as required.

Undertake reporting and management tasks relating to the requirements of external partners.

Attend appropriate DFN Project SEARCH team meetings and area meetings producing agendas and minutes, representing the college at the host employer

Promote and encourage the use of assistive technologies and the College's Virtual learning environment to help foster independence, employability, maths and English skills and prepare the intern for the world of work

Prepare and adapt resources to meet individual requirements, sharing information with relevant parties

Ensure interns are referred to the appropriate internal and external support agencies where applicable

Education & Training




A Level 3 Qualification

GCSE 4-9 (A- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A - C) Or prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2





Experience







Experience of working directly with young people with high needs.

Experience of managing relationships with external organisations

Experience of using IT, e-mail, internet, word-processing and spreadsheet packages accurately and with good attention to detail
