Purpose of the Role

Primary role will be to carry out topographic and permanent way survey tasks as directed by the Lead Surveyor and Survey Manager, both safely, and to a high quality to facilitate the completion of the surveys on site.

Person Specification

------------------------



Can work both within a team and with a certain degree of autonomy.


Comfortable working under short-duration time pressures due to limited access to the rail infrastructure.


Due to working on the rail infrastructure, work will be carried out predominantly at night, including weekends (day and night).


Most work will be in the Anglia Network Rail region, however, travel further afield including overnight stays may be required as and when the business needs dictate.


The position will require obtaining and maintaining track safety competencies if not already held, including passing an industry medical.


Be willing to attend training courses as and when the company requires and deems applicable to the role and future career development.

Qualifications and Experience

Rail experience and knowledge is desirable but not essential however, willingness to learn and master rail-specific measurement technologies and working methods are.


Previous survey knowledge is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.


The position will require obtaining and maintaining track safety competencies if not already held, including passing an industry medical.

Key Responsibilities

------------------------



Assist the Lead Surveyor with the completion of land, railway and gauging surveys to the survey brief and specification.


Undertake specific survey tasks as instructed by the Lead Surveyor


Make sure the survey equipment is kept in good condition and ready for use.


Be responsible for your own health & safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do or do not do.


Assist with Pway Technical works as and when required by the depot construction team.
