Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. As a Sushi Chef, you will play a vital role in creating delicious and visually appealing sushi dishes that delight our customers.

Responsibilities

Prepare high-quality sushi and sashimi using fresh ingredients while adhering to traditional techniques. Ensure all food safety standards are met, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of ingredients. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and timely service. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and stored. Assist in menu development by contributing innovative ideas for new sushi dishes. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and assist with ordering supplies as needed. Provide training and support to junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, particularly in sushi preparation and food presentation. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices for kitchen hygiene. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues. A passion for Japanese cuisine and continuous learning about new cooking techniques and trends.
