We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and culinary arts, specialising in sushi and Japanese cuisine. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi dishes, maintaining high standards of food safety, and contributing to the overall success of our establishment.
Responsibilities
Prepare a variety of sushi and Japanese dishes with attention to detail and presentation standards
Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used in accordance with food safety regulations
Assist in the development of new sushi recipes and menu items to enhance customer offerings
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and workstations
Monitor stock levels and communicate with suppliers for ingredient replenishment
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours
Uphold high standards of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in compliance with health regulations
Serve dishes promptly while maintaining quality and presentation standards
Requirements
Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a chef specialising in sushi or Japanese cuisine
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards within a professional kitchen environment
Previous restaurant experience preferred, with a focus on meal preparation and serving
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service times
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
Culinary qualification or relevant training is desirable but not essential for highly experienced candidates
Passion for Japanese cuisine and commitment to delivering authentic culinary experiences

Pay: 13.50-16.00 per hour
