We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring that every meal meets our high standards of taste and presentation.

Duties

Prepare sushi and other Japanese dishes with precision and care, adhering to traditional techniques. Ensure the highest standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained in the kitchen at all times. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service. Maintain an organised workspace, ensuring all ingredients are properly stored and labelled. Assist in menu development by providing input on new sushi offerings and seasonal specials. Train junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management as required.

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation, particularly in sushi or Japanese cuisine. Strong culinary skills with a focus on cooking techniques relevant to sushi making. Previous kitchen experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment is essential. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is required. Excellent attention to detail with a passion for creating visually appealing dishes. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when needed.
