We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a keen understanding of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi-making techniques. As a Sushi Chef, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality dishes that meet our store's standards for taste and presentation. Your expertise in food safety and culinary practices will ensure that every meal is prepared with care and precision.
Responsibilities
Prepare and present sushi dishes according to the store's recipes and standards.
Assist manager with labour cost, food cost and gross sales, ensuring profit is achieved
Assist manager to create the duty rotas and manage staff holidays, support the teams in opening and closing locations on assigned days and provide leadership during the hours of operations & be flexible to support other counters when required
Manage the day to day running on the store including daily production, ensuring bestselling items are a key focus, date check to ensure all food is safe to sell, handling all deliveries, safely opening or closing down the store.
Support and cover an emergency shift when necessary
Maintain consistent high standards and drive food quality
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation, promoting a safe and healthy working environment by being a 'safety-minded leader' who leads by example in reporting any food and safety issues and deficiencies in the sites
Inspire and engage your Team through creating a culture of teamwork and support
Working closely with your Manager, assess your Team's skills and knowledge gaps to help build and sustain a high performing team
Train teammates in a supportive and motivating manner ensuring that successful performance is reinforced, and constructive feedback is provided
Drive systems and standards of new program concepts through coaching, role modelling and spot-checking
You will be expected to achieve a level of service through the constant monitoring of expected brand standards.
Manage the day to day running on the kiosk including daily production ensuring bestselling items are a key focus.
Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, organised, and adhere to food safety regulations.
Maintain inventory of sushi ingredients and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Monitor food quality throughout the cooking process to ensure consistency and excellence.
Experience
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, particularly in Japanese cuisine.
Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in sushi preparation.
Understanding of food safety standards and regulations.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
A passion for culinary arts and willingness to learn new skills.
