Duties
Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station in accordance with food safety regulations
Source and select fresh ingredients, including fish, vegetables, and rice, to ensure optimal freshness and flavour
Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency across all dishes
Assist with meal preparation for other Japanese cuisine offerings as required
Monitor stock levels and communicate supply needs to management
Adhere strictly to food safety standards and hygiene practices at all times
Serve dishes promptly and courteously to guests, providing excellent customer service
Requirements
Proven experience in food preparation, particularly within Japanese cuisine or as a Sushi Chef
Strong skills in cooking, meal preparation, and food safety protocols
Previous kitchen experience in a restaurant setting is essential
Knowledge of culinary techniques specific to sushi making, including knife skills and rice handling
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in presentation and hygiene standards
Experience in serving guests courteously within a restaurant environment is desirable
A recognised culinary qualification or relevant training is advantageous
