About the Opportunity




Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and strategic

Sustainability Lead

to join us supporting our clients creating a cleaner, safer environment for future generations. You'll be instrumental in embedding sustainable practices across a portfolio of highly complex and critical national infrastructure projects in the nuclear decommissioning industry and adjacent areas.


Working across a collaborative delivery ecosystem comprising designers, integrators, civil and process engineering experts, you will drive innovation, culture change, and ESG impact, shaping some of the UK's most important projects.

Here is what you will need

:

High level of professional knowledge and skills in sustainable engineering design, building physics, compliance modelling and operational energy assessments Demonstrable experience in operational energy and life cycle carbon costing is highly desirable. Strong working knowledge of sustainability including best practice benchmarks, reporting, tools and techniques e.g. BREEAM, CEEQUAL, PAS2080 A commitment to sustainability with a strong sense of purpose and drive to make a positive difference within a sustainable business context A track record of effectively collaborating, innovating and driving sustainable outcomes through project design processes

This exciting role will incorporate, leadership and support relating to project development and general environmental management work, assisting projects to meet legal and company requirements and to drive improved environmental performance. Promoting best environmental and a commitment to sustainability with a strong sense of purpose and drive to make a positive difference within a sustainable business context practice and improved business management of environmentally related issues.


What you will need as a

Sustainability Lead

:

Degree or equivalent knowledge & experience in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field. Proven experience leading sustainability on major construction or infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of UK sustainability legislation, standards (e.g. PAS2080, ISO 14001), and carbon/net zero frameworks. Skilled in managing stakeholder engagement and translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives. Collaborative and pragmatic approach, seeing the bigger picture, whilst mindful of the stringent regulatory environment we and clients routinely operate in Membership of IEMA, CIOB, ICE, or similar recognised body; working towards or holding Chartership is preferred. Experience in the nuclear or other highly regulated industry Experience with or good working knowledge of BREEAM, LEED, WELL, or similar certifications. Good knowledge of PAS2080 and experience in its implementation Familiarity with Science-Based Targets, carbon accounting platforms, or social value measurement frameworks.
