More information can be found at www.asahiinternational.comKey Purpose StatementThe Asahi UK business is looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual to help drive our sustainability agenda. The successful candidate will play a cross-functional role, working closely with internal stakeholders throughout the business, as well as external partners, to support the strategic planning and delivery of our sustainability programme and associated activity - with a key focus on the manufacturing and supply chain environment. The role will require specialist technical knowledge and capability in sustainable business management and practice, gathered either through career experience or vocational/further education.Key accountabilities

  • To play an important role in the delivery of the UK sustainability programme - including supporting the development/evolution of the strategy, identifying key actions and helping to ensure integration across functions
  • The Sustainability Manager will work independently and as part of a small Corporate Affairs team, with regular input from the European sustainability community.
  • Immersion within the operational sections of the business, including manufacturing sites and logistics network to map and analyse the challenges and opportunities for reaching sustainability goals
  • Internal coordination and data management required to monitor and report the business's footprint and meet wider environmental reporting requirements
  • Make informed recommendations and build the business case for action and investment needs
  • Input to preparations and to support the business's regulatory compliance including ESOS, TCFD and UK SRS
  • Support the business to deliver successful sustainability communications across audiences, including engagement with external stakeholders and customers
  • Be an authority on brand and corporate sustainability communications
  • Stakeholder management and presentation - internal and external
  • Be the ambassador for sustainability in business, communicating the agenda to build support across all levels and departments.
  • Promote a culture of environmental awareness across the business, coordinating education for colleagues on the topic to build expertise.
Competencies and Behaviours required:Essential:
  • Demonstrable passion for sustainability
  • Strong, direct experience and expertise in both operational and general business sustainability, via career and/or education
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build working relationships across all parts of the business and impactful partnerships with external parties
  • Ability to distil and manage complex information
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative and influencing skills with an ability to communicate at all levels; both written and verbal
Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of sustainable practices and challenges within manufacturing and supply chain logistics
  • Understanding of business operations, commercial landscape and external market factors to recommend actions that build or protect value
  • Experience or knowledge of the Food and Drink sector, in particular sustainable agriculture and ingredient sourcing.
  • Good project management skills with proven experience in developing and implementing waste and energy plans and programs - would be a distinct advantage
  • Interest and experience of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the round, helping businesses act with purpose to make a positive impact to society and the communities where they operate
Experience Required:Essential:
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel and data management
  • Ability to analyse data and information to present in a accessible way for stakeholders
  • Functional knowledge of technical energy and/or environmental management/governance i.e. key accreditations needed in the operating environment
  • Project management experience / capability
Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of sustainability standards such as Green House Gas Protocol, TCFD and legislative landscape
  • Ability to measure and assess energy, water and waste usage, and our carbon footprint across scope 1, 2 and 3
  • Understanding of Greenhouse Gas Protocol
