We are seeking a Sustaining & Product Support Engineer to join our Technology team within the Detection division in Hemel Hempstead, UK. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our core engineering processes and maintaining the integrity of our product data throughout the entire product lifecycle within the Centre of Excellence.
This multi-disciplinary team includes Technology, Manufacturing, Service and Quality to identify and implement changes to address obsolescence, quality issues and VAVE improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and drive continuous improvements and engineering changes through our established Engineering Change Process.
Create and update technical documentation, including engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Provide timely updates to Programme Management teams regarding change embodiment, including timelines, challenges, and opportunities.
Collaborate with Manufacturing and Operations to successfully implement product improvements.
Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Ensure full compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Maintain a minimum on-site presence of three days per week at our Hemel Hempstead office.
Perform other duties as required to support the team's objectives.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Skills
A degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or an equivalent qualification). Accreditation by a relevant professional body is a plus.
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in an engineering role.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD design tools and associated product data management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general PC usage.
Soft Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A collaborative team player who can also work effectively with minimal supervision.
A self-starter with a high degree of responsibility.
The ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships.
Desirable
Experience in pursuing professional development or certifications.
Familiarity with Military Standards.
Awareness of business tools such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
Knowledge of the gated engineering design process, including design for excellence, prototyping, and testing.
Additional Requirements
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be eligible to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
Work Environment: This role requires the ability to work effectively with various internal teams and external stakeholders, including other departments, project teams, customers, and suppliers.
