Job Scale: Gradd 8 / Grade 8

Job Hours: 37 Awr / 37 Hours

Speciality:

This is a permanent position . The hours will reduce to 28 hours after two years. However, should funding be secured then additional hours will be made available to the post holder at that time.

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council allows its relevant posts holders up to two flexi leave days per months subject to adherence with the current Flexi Policy. There are currently no core hours, but employees are expected to be available for work depending on demands of the service and at the managers discretion. The Environmental Health, public health team work on an agile basis and officers are expected to manage their own workloads in meeting service outcomes

Job Purpose;
To undertake the full range of specialist environmental health duties within the Public Health team.
To assist in the efficient, effective, and economic discharge of the Council\'s policies and statutory duties.

Service areas covered by the post include:

  • Food Safety.
  • Food Standards.
  • Communicable Disease Control.
  • Health and Safety enforcement of commercial businesses including regulation of tattooists, other special procedures, petroleum licensing and safety at sports grounds.
  • Public Health Funerals.
  • Planning advice.
  • Private Water Supplies.
  • Enforcement of No Smoking legislation.
