Contexte du Projet : Au sein de la R&D de la division XHAUL de Nokia, nous developpons des equipements de radiocommunication de pointe. L'evaluation precise des performances en termes de signature de canal est cruciale pour garantir la qualite et la competitivite de nos produits. Les solutions d'evaluation disponibles sur le marche sont souvent onereuses (notamment les solutions NI), limitees en bande passante et necessitent des conditions de fonctionnement specifiques (ex: chambre climatique) en raison de l'instabilite des etages RF. Pour surmonter ces limitations, nous avons initie le developpement d'un banc de signature interne, plus adapte a nos besoins.
Objectif du Stage : Ce stage de fin d'etudes vise a contribuer activement a la conception, a l'implementation et a la validation d'un banc de signature large bande double-voies innovant. Vous rejoindrez l'equipe pour la seconde phase de ce projet ambitieux, qui se concentrera sur l'implementation sur FPGA et l'optimisation des performances RF.
Project Context: Within the R&D of Nokia's XHAUL division, we develop cutting-edge radiocommunication equipment. Accurate performance evaluation in terms of channel signature is crucial to ensure the quality and competitiveness of our products. Available market solutions are often expensive (notably NI solutions), limited in bandwidth, and require specific operating conditions (e.g., climate chamber) due to the instability of RF stages. To overcome these limitations, we initiated the development of an internal signature bench, better suited to our needs.
Internship Objective: This end-of-study internship aims to actively contribute to the design, implementation, and validation of an innovative wideband dual-channel signature bench. You will join the team for the second phase of this ambitious project, which will focus on FPGA implementation and RF performance optimization.
Responsibilities:
Description des Missions : Le projet global est divise en deux phases distinctes. La Phase 1, deja en cours ou finalisee, a consiste en la modelisation du canal de Rummler sous Matlab/Simulink et le developpement d'un modele Simulink pour valider la solution numerique.
Votre stage demarrera directement sur la Phase 2, qui se concentre sur l'implementation de ce modele sur FPGA et l'integration complete du banc de signature. Vos missions comprendront :
Implementation FPGA :
Adapter et affiner le code VHDL existant (issu de la Phase 1) pour cibler specifiquement la carte numerique NOKIA (DRAGON Board).
Mettre au point l'architecture VHDL pour l'implementation du modele sur le FPGA, en tenant compte des contraintes de frequence (250 MHz) et de parallelisation par filtrage polyphase.
Etude et Optimisation RF :
Approfondir l'etude de l'amelioration des performances en bruit de phase des cartes radiofrequence NOKIA.
Participer activement a l'optimisation du bruit de phase d'une carte RF specifique.
Conception et Specification du Banc de Test :
Rediger le cahier des charges detaille pour l'implementation complete du banc de signature.
Etablir les specifications materielles (HW) necessaires a la realisation du banc.
Conception Mecanique :
Contribuer au design mecanique du chassis du banc de test, en collaboration avec l'equipe dediee.
Integration et Validation :
Integrer l'ensemble de la solution, en associant la carte numerique NOKIA (DRAGON Board) et les cartes radiofrequences NOKIA.
Proceder a la validation fonctionnelle et aux tests de performance du banc de signature.

Vous serez encadre(e) par une equipe experimentee, composee d'une personne de l'equipe systeme, d'une personne du developpement FPGA et d'une personne du departement mecanique, garantissant un accompagnement complet et diversifie.
Description of the Tasks: The overall project is divided into two distinct phases. Phase 1, already underway or completed, involved modeling the Rummler channel in Matlab/Simulink and developing a Simulink model to validate the digital solution. Your internship will start directly with Phase 2, which focuses on implementing this model on FPGA and the full integration of the signature bench. Your tasks will include:

  • FPGA Implementation:
Adapt and refine the existing VHDL code (from Phase 1) to specifically target Nokia's digital board (DRAGON Board).
Develop the VHDL architecture for implementing the model on the FPGA, considering frequency constraints (250 MHz) and parallelization via polyphase filtering.
  • RF Study and Optimization:
Deepen the study of improving phase noise performance of Nokia RF boards. o Actively contribute to optimizing the phase noise of a specific RF board. o Test Bench Design and Specification:
Write the detailed requirements document for the complete implementation of the signature bench. o Establish the hardware (HW) specifications required to build the bench.
  • Mechanical Design:
Contribute to the mechanical design of the test bench chassis, in collaboration with the dedicated team.
  • Integration and Validation:
Integrate the entire solution, combining the Nokia digital board (DRAGON Board) and Nokia RF boards.
Perform functional validation and performance testing of the signature bench.

Qualifications:
Profil Recherche : Etudiant(e) en derniere annee d'ecole d'ingenieur ou Master universitaire avec une specialisation en electronique, telecommunications, traitement du signal ou systemes embarques. Des connaissances en VHDL, FPGA, RF et une appetence pour le travail en laboratoire sont un plus.
La maitrise de l'anglais a un bon niveau technique, ainsi que de solides competences en communication, est la bienvenue.
Desired Profile: Final-year engineering school student or university Master's student specializing in electronics, telecommunications, signal processing, or embedded systems. Knowledge of VHDL, FPGA, RF, and an interest in laboratory work are a plus.
English spoken at a good technical level and communication skills are welcome
