Overview

At Element Digital Engineering, we provide specialist engineering simulation, design, and consultancy support to clients across many industries, both in the UK and internationally. Our technical work covers everything from experience-based advice and simple hand calculations to detailed simulation and numerical modelling.

Thanks to sustained growth in demand for our services, we are looking for an experienced System Safety Technical Lead to support our growth. This position can be based at either of our three offices in Bristol, Cambridge, or Derby.

Responsibilities

Your primary role will be to lead the technical delivery of one or more projects, providing knowledge and experience to our growing team while providing an effective service to our clients. However, this is a broad opportunity and we want you to be part of the growth of our System Safety team and we are committed to providing an atmosphere for success. This may include exposure to one or more of the following:

  • Recruitment activities to help grow the team
  • Proposal writing
  • Coaching and mentoring individuals within the team as we expand
  • Adopting collaborative approach to help us meet the challenges of building a new and profitable engineering service
  • Travel within the UK and overseas as required from time to time to deliver the above duties, hence a full UK drivers license is preferred
  • Manage multiple projects whilst developing relationships with clients of different sizes and maturities
  • Demonstrably competent at taking a project through to completion
  • Client liaison experience
  • Experience of a range of System Safety engineering techniques
  • Demonstrable experience of business development
  • Working knowledge of \xe2\x80\x98new approach directives\xe2\x80\x99
Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
  • Chartered membership of a relevant institution is desireable although not essential
  • Leading technical safety workshops such as; Hazard Identification (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA)
  • Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Assessment (FTA, Bowtie)
  • ALARP Assessments
  • Safety Case Development
  • Regulatory Compliance e.g. ATEX / DSEAR, COMAH, MD, LVD, PED
  • Ability to take accepted risk management methodologies from more mature, regulated industries and adapt these to provide effective approach to the management of risk in other industries
  • Outstanding communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 written and verbal
  • Comfortable operating in a client facing role
