We are looking for Systems Architects to join the Central Engineering team that is key in supporting complex projects across the 15 areas of the business. The primary purpose of this position is to define and implement Systems Architecture strategy, management and tasks for key business projects across a range of domains.

You\'ll report to the Systems Discipline & Capability Director to define, support and/or commence execution of systems architecture activities on a range of projects in various phases of the life-cycle. A common denominator is that the project will be in need of external help and expertise to \xe2\x80\x98start right\xe2\x80\x99 or to maintain/regain schedule/technical baseline

The role will provide guidance and leadership to the project/programme Engineering team with particular reference to developing a system/solution architecture and in deploying a model based systems engineering approach to the required engineering activities.

In addition to potentially leading project systems/solution architecture activity, the role shall also participate in and in some cases lead tiger team reviews in support of bids and projects and balance the demands of MBSE excellence with strong practical engineering delivery ability.

As a Systems Architect and member of the Central Systems Engineering Team in Thales UK, you\'ll focus on the successful delivery of a range of solutions to a wide variety of customers in our Civil and Military domains. This could include;

  • Supporting less experienced Architects in their planning and execution of MBSE And other Architecting activities
  • Acting as the Systems Architect on specific projects on short secondments or extended loan
  • Supporting one or more projects, in a range of domains encompassing Land, Sea and Air products
The successful candidate will be able to successfully carry out the following:
  • Support completion of the solution operational analysis and lead on initial capture & management of stakeholder needs, system/subsystem requirements, and identifying verification and validation strategies
  • Create solution, logical, and physical architectures (Inc. modelling or prototyping) and support to preparation of system specifications and Interface Control Documentation (ICDs)
  • Contribute to Technical Statements of Work for, and management of, equipment suppliers
  • Contribute to system/subsystem integration and V&V strategy and planning documents
  • Contributing to safety and airworthiness certification strategy of products
We are looking for Principle Systems Engineers or Systems Architects who have experience in:
  • Producing solution architectures that satisfy customer needs and are compliant to customer requirements; a comprehensive understanding of architecture frameworks, architectural modelling techniques and management processes
  • Experience of architectural modelling of Systems, from operational analysis and subsequent system level architecture through to physical level architectures in tools such as Enterprise Architect, Capella, MOOD, Rhapsody etc.
  • Experience of requirements capture, decomposition and management (e.g. in DOORS)
  • Able to define and manage interfaces, partition solution budgets, and conduct effective trade-offs
  • Knowledge of System Engineering and System Engineering Processes and Practices, including knowledge of Systems Lifecycles
  • An ability to work with customers, subcontractors, and partners, as well as mentor internal staff members to increase engineering capability
  • An ability to support bids, programmes, and modifications to operational solutions
