We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Systems Engineer (Microsoft) to join our IT team.
Job Type: Fixed Term Contract 12 Months
Location: This role could be based in either our Birmingham, Telford or Edinburgh offices with time spent working in the office and at home.
Flexible working: All of our roles are open to part-time, job-share and other types of flexibility. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

The role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Microsoft Systems Engineer to work within a large-scale, multi-site IT estate both supporting the infrastructure and implementing change as required. You will be supported by the IT Team but expected to work independently, leading other technical resources when necessary, including 3rd party suppliers. A degree of flexibility in working hours is expected.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensure the continued operation of our Microsoft Hyper-V estate and the appropriate, timely recovery of the systems in the event of an incident/failure.
Resolving Microsoft Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 and Microsoft Hyper-V problems by troubleshooting and vendor escalations.
Upgrading Microsoft Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 and Microsoft Hyper-V components when requested.
Engaging in Microsoft related project work and security improvements.
Log and maintain incidents and changes via a ticketing system.
Define an action plan for troubleshooting and incident resolutions.
Remote support of physical servers at datacentres.
Maintain industry certification and knowledge.
Provide out-of-hours support when requested.
Implement out-of-hours changes when requested.
Produce and maintain technical documentation.
Working / liaising with third party organisations.
Managing PKI Certificates.
What are we looking for?
Proven ability of installations, upgrades and maintenance of Microsoft Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 and Microsoft Hyper-V systems.
Experience of Active Directory, ADFS and DNS.
Experience of PKI certification management
Experience with applying Microsoft security policies.
Experience of remotely supporting servers at datacentres.
