As the Programme Manager for our Systems and Development team, you\'ll play a key role in coordinating projects to implement new systems, improve our current systems and business processes, and to retire and migrate legacy systems. You\'ll ensure that teams are coordinated, that project governance is well-defined and followed, and that resourcing within the team and our partners continues to match demand.

You\'ll manage a small team of product owners who have responsibility within their areas to deliver projects and manage external teams.

The Systems and Development team sits within Engineering. We deliver and maintain systems, software applications, and tooling within the business.

Our work helps the business achieve its key goal of delivering effortless customer experiences across the country as we build and operate our full fibre network.

Your key responsibilities will be...

  • Leading the Product Management team within Systems and Development
  • Coordinating delivery of software projects, and providing support and mentorship to Product Managers as they manage projects related to their areas
  • Planning our programme of work for consolidation of acquisitions and their systems
  • Making sure that our projects are conducted in line with our departmental and project governance, and updating this governance as needed to ensure good outcomes for projects
  • Ensuring that our projects deliver good quality software, APIs, and integration code
  • Working with our QA function to ensure that software is tested against user and technical requirements, and that test plans are robust
This role sits within our Engineering function, you\'ll report to the Head of Systems & Development.

The Engineering team is fully remote, but we do have offices around the UK which you can use if you want to.

Skills & Knowledge required...
  • You are reliable, with a passion for engineering, and an eye for detail and accuracy
  • You\'re a good communicator with effective verbal and written communication skills
  • You\'re approachable, and adaptable to a fast-changing business
  • You believe strongly in delivering great outcomes for customers and users, and doing the right thing
  • You understand the importance of data - making sure it\'s managed securely and carefully
  • You\'ll be a competent user of IT and office tools such as chat applications, email, or ticketing tools
  • Basic knowledge of fibre to the home networks or similar telecoms/utilities work
  • Knowledge of telecommunications business practices and common frameworks (e.g. TMForum eTOM, SID), or experience working with operational/business support systems in similar industries e.g. water, gas, or electrical utilities
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR and practical impact of GDPR for contracts, data management, etc
  • Experience or background in software engineering
Experience & Qualifications needed...
  • Demonstrable track record of managing substantial system or software delivery projects and/or programmes, with at least 3 years experience in programme management and 3 years experience in project management
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including agile methodologies
  • Demonstrable experience managing and leading relationships with software/system suppliers
  • Understanding of software and system architecture
