Job Spec - Freelance Designer Tableware and Sculpture, Figure
We are looking for an enthusiastic & talented designer who is passionate about shape, design and homeware and has a love of ceramics and design to join our creative team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Key areas of responsibility will be:
Working collaboratively with the Design Manager to develop new tableware shapes, tabletop giftware, mugs and other related products.
Creating client presentations in conjunction with the Design Manager, Development Director and other colleagues.
Innovation; generating original & inspiring work in response to creative briefs, trend forecasts and own creativity. Must have a very good handle and understanding on the homewares market.
. Travel; is key to the role and must be able to support Far East sourcing trips abroad and travel during key exhibitions.
Maintaining an interest in current and emerging trends in fashion, home & tableware.
Creating production ready artwork for tableware, tabletop giftware & packaging.
WHO YOU'LL BE:

Flexibility; our team is small and the design requirements are fast changing. They will often require a quick response.
A solid portfolio demonstrating strong shape and surface pattern.
An excellent working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Originality, quality and variety of work suitable for our varying global customer base.
A good understanding of the Homeware & Tableware markets across a broad spectrum of retailers in the UK and internationally would be an advantage.
Good interpersonal & communication skills.
Strong attention to detail; ability to work to tight deadlines and extremely well organised.
Excellent self-motivation.
Packaging experience would be beneficial but not essential.
Ideally you will be a graduate in Ceramic Design, Illustration or other design-related discipline.
The position would be on a freelance basis.
The Design Manager is located in the Stoke-on-Trent area.
Our office and UK showroom is in Rayleigh and proximity would be advantageous. Working hours are flexible.

Job Duties:
Craft drafts, models & prototypes across multiple platforms, showcasing high attention to detail, design, typography and layout skills
Collaborate with other teams and use feedback to develop final drafts
Revise the work of previous designers, making sure that designs meet guidelines and are consistent across formats
Work on multiple projects at once whilst consistently adhering to tight deadlines
