The Talent Manager serves as the agency point person for securing, paying, and overseeing all required documentation for talent involved in creative projects for the agency's clients.
Assignment Specific Responsibilities:
Estimating:
Prepare talent estimate based on storyboards, team input, and media info in accordance with agency and client guidelines
While preparing estimate, discuss any Overscale Talent or Licensed Music required for the job with Producer and incorporate as needed
Pre-Production:
Prepare SAG talent contracts for all union productions
Prepare talent releases for all non-union productions
Production:
Be available to answer talent questions and troubleshoot as needed while Producer is on location
Handle music licensing as needed, including researching musicians, negotiating, contracting, and processing contract payments.
Advise on business terms for celebrity talent, negotiate & contract when applicable, and process celebrity talent payments
Advise on business terms and review releases for stock footage and needle drops
Talent Payment Processing:
Ensure there are contracts & photographs for all talent listed on Talent Report provided by production studio
Review contracts and Talent Report for accuracy
If applicable, confirm that children's contracts include additional necessary paperwork & approvals
Upload contracts to business management point person for Talent Partners payment processing
Approve overscale, special contracts, and/or celebrity talent timesheets prior to sending to Talent Partners for payment or application against guarantee
Post-Production:
Ensure that project documentation is completed, including maintaining separate folder with all original contracts, releases, licenses, talent reports, and other talent rights-related documents
Identify and address any talent-related issues during post-production (e.g., talent upgrades, overages)
Assist producer in securing voice talent as needed
Client Approval & Project Completion:
Confirm to Business Manager that all essential documents (e.g., license releases, talent info, W-4s, etc) are in hand prior to releasing commercial
Screen and discuss all motion-related assets before shipping, being sure to note all usage limitations
Upon client approval of asset, responsible for creating, maintaining and distributing a Completion Report within 5 days, including all pertinent talent details about the asset and following agency guidelines
Respond to any union claims related to Production
Oversee residual-based projects, determining if revised estimate needs to be created, paying talent for one-offs, revising holding fees
Handle other talent asset afterlife issues as needed
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred
Familiarity with complex contracting and at least one of industry standards: SAG, AFTRA, IAB, USPS.
Proficiency in licensing intellectual property rights and third part works for hire if demanded by platform.
Ability to thrive in a hyper-paced, collaborative, creative environment
Strong organizational and analytic skills
Very detail oriented
Ability to multitask and prioritize
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
