Job Description

Role purpose



Reporting to the Engineering Maintenance Supervisor, the "Tannery Maintenance Assistant" will provide inspection and lubrication services to the entire Engineering Team in the areas of tannery machines including loading, unloading, drum operations and fleshing/splitting/ samming operations.

The principle purpose of the role is to ensure that the Engineering Department can be confident that daily and weekly inspections are completed, regular cleaning is done to the required standard and that lubrication works are carried out according to the agreed schedule. This is an Engineering Department role but requires regular and in-depth communication with staff in Operations, Technical and Quality.

Key accountabilities



Embed H&S culture of zero tolerance in all engineering works Promote the use of T-Cards for near miss and hazard reporting- ensuring appropriate feedback and recognition Organise and carry out inspections of all tannery equipment in coordination with the Engineers and the inspection schedule Report all faults and observations to the Engineering team leader Carry out lubrication works according to the required schedule Monitor and, if necessary assist with, the equipment cleaning schedule - this must be in co-operation with Operations Department staff
