About Us

Brass Castle Brewery is an award-winning independent brewery based in Malton. We specialise in vegan and gluten-free craft beers and run our Taphouse as a welcoming community space that showcases what we do best.

About the Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Taphouse Manager to lead day-to-day operations and help shape the future of our venue. You'll manage the Taphouse team and contribute to planning and delivering external events and festivals.

Key Responsibilities

Taphouse Operations

- Oversee daily Taphouse activity and ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

- Lead the bar team: scheduling, training, and maintaining service standards.

- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a vibrant atmosphere.

- Manage stock levels and general bar administration.

- Ensure cleaning standards, policies, and procedures are followed.

- Maintain compliance with licensing rules and responsible-service policies.

Events & Business Development

- Contribute to planning and delivering external events and festivals.

- Develop and oversee on-site events including tap takeovers, private bookings, and tours.

- Support marketing activity, including social media and website updates.

- Assist with staff recruitment when required.

Reporting & Coordination

- Prepare operational updates and documentation for the Operations Manager.

- Work flexibly to support busy periods and special events.

About You

Essential

- Bar or hospitality management experience

- Strong communication and people-management skills

- Good organisational ability and able to work in a fast-paced environment

- Confident customer service skills

- Computer literate

- Able to work independently and as part of a team

- Comfortable with evening and weekend work

- Able to lift and move items and work on your feet for long periods

Desirable

- Event or festival management experience

- Knowledge of beer and brewing

- Understanding of cask cellarmanship

- Experience with stock systems or POS platforms

- Personal licence

- First Aid or Mental Health First Aid training

Working Conditions

This is an active, hands-on role involving standing for extended periods, lifting up to 55kg, working shifts, and occasionally dealing with a busy or challenging bar environment.
