Great Doddington Primary School are looking to appoint a positive, nurturing and committed Targeted Support Assistant to work with children who require additional support in order to access learning. Experience of supporting children with SEND is essential for this role.
You will work under the direction of the class teacher and the SENCo to provide individual or small group support so that pupils can make good progress socially, emotionally and academically.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Work on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to support children with additional needs
Deliver interventions as directed (academic, social/communication or emotional regulation based)
Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and adapting tasks as necessary
Provide feedback to the teacher on progress, challenges and next steps
Promote independence, resilience and confidence in pupils
Support children with personal care needs where necessary
Help to prepare resources to support learning
Supervise and support pupils in class, around school and at transitional times (e.g. start/end of day, breaks as required)
General Teaching Assistant Responsibilities (expected):
Support the class teacher with classroom routines and organisation
Encourage positive behaviour and follow school behaviour policy
Help maintain a safe, tidy and engaging learning environment
Contribute to written records/notes relating to pupil progress
Work collaboratively as part of the wider school team
