We are seeking a Tax Adviser to join a leading player in the energy sector. This role primarily focuses on

direct tax matters

within a top UK energy group. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for

tax compliance, quarterly tax accounting, and advisory support

across the UK group of companies.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing tax compliance submissions and providing technical guidance on

direct and indirect taxes

, supporting upstream energy operations. You will also manage

HMRC correspondence

under the guidance of the Tax Manager, ensuring compliance with both UK and international obligations, and ensuring quarterly tax reporting aligns with group policies.

Key Responsibilities



Liaise with outsourced service providers (where applicable) to ensure accurate and timely submission of tax returns. Monitor outsourced providers to ensure deadlines are met and submissions are delivered in the required format. Optimise available reliefs and allowances for

VAT, EU Sales List, Corporate Tax (CT), and Petroleum Revenue Tax (PRT)

in a tax-efficient manner. Provide technical input and support in responding to HMRC queries on corporate tax, PRT, and indirect taxes. Calculate current and deferred taxes and prepare related tax journals. Reconcile tax figures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.

Qualifications and Experience



Degree qualified. ATT qualification (or equivalent). Previous experience in a tax-focused role, preferably within the energy industry. Proficiency in

SAP, Excel, Word, and OneSource (tax software)

. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills with a logical approach. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
