are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with
Spaghetti Bridge
, a rapidly growing organisation in the specialist education sector, to recruit a
Tax & Compliance Manager
. This is an exciting opportunity to join a scaling business on a mission -- and play a key role in shaping its in-house tax capability. This newly created role supports the Head of Tax as the company transitions away from reliance on external advisors and towards a streamlined, robust internal tax and compliance function. The position is offered on a hybrid basis, with 1 day per week at the Chilton Cantelo Head Office (near Yeovil) and the remainder remote, with flexibility based on business needs.
About you
You'll be a confident, technically strong tax professional with excellent knowledge of UK corporate tax, VAT, and payroll compliance. You'll have the drive to build new processes, implement systems, and partner with internal stakeholders across finance, operations and external advisors. Ideally, you've worked in a complex, fast-moving environment where you've had to juggle compliance responsibilities with strategic tax planning. You enjoy rolling up your sleeves, getting into the detail, and helping shape a growing function from the ground up.
The role
As Tax & Compliance Manager, you'll support the Head of Tax in all areas of tax compliance, planning and reporting -- including corporation tax, VAT (including Capital Goods Scheme), payroll taxes, and transfer pricing. You'll also be closely involved in developing systems (including Netsuite ERP), improving internal controls, and supporting wider finance transformation initiatives across the group.
As a Tax & Compliance Manager, your role will include (but not be limited to):
Corporate Tax Compliance: Assist with preparation and submission of corporation tax returns, tax provisioning, and liaising with auditors and stakeholders.
VAT Management: Prepare quarterly VAT returns, track and report capital items under the Capital Goods Scheme, and help improve VAT processes.
Capital Allowances: Conduct reviews for new site purchases and refurbishments; identify opportunities to maximise claims.
Payroll Tax Oversight: Support on PAYE, NICs, and employee benefit taxation, including P11Ds and benefit strategy planning.
General Tax Compliance: Monitor wider tax obligations (PAYE, VAT, etc.) and ensure compliance with current and emerging legislation.
Transfer Pricing & CIR: Assist with thin capitalisation and Corporate Interest Restriction reporting, working with external consultants as required.
Strategic Tax Input: Provide insight on tax implications of new initiatives, acquisitions or disposals, and help identify opportunities for tax efficiency.
Regulatory & Statutory Support: Support wider regulatory compliance, statutory accounts preparation, and finance systems implementation.
Finance Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance Director, finance team, and wider stakeholders to build a robust, best-practice financial operation.
