We are offering an excellent opportunity for an ambitious personal tax assistant to join our team, you can be qualified, part qualified, or qualified by experience. You will be joining a small but highly motivated team who are on their own journey to provide the best service to our client base; we provide a very personal and best practice service to our clients that cover a wide range of sectors, the role will therefore provide a great deal of client contact as we help them build success in their business just as we try to do the same in our business. The personal tax we do is trying to change to meet the new ways of working and we can truly say we were already will ahead of other firms and this has set us apart from many. It now allows us to be truly different because we embrace this way of working and the whilst all others try to present themselves as the new way to work we really are and loving what and how we work day to day. It is essential that you have worked in an accountancy practice, large or small and will be familiar with all aspects of Personal Tax preparation from sole trader Income and Expenditures to Higher Rates tax payer and rental property income and combination of all of above

The role may be suitable for full time, flexible working or part time.

The appointed tax assistant main duties will be:



Service a varied portfolio of self assessment clients in a pro-active manner where you will fully maintain a portfolio of clients under the guidance of the partner. Setting up clients with HMRC for self assessment and contacting HMRC regarding letters and queries. Assisting with review and development of improved working practices and in house training sessions. Developing and maintaining client contact and relationships. Liaison and communication with Manager and other departments.

The appointed Accountant Profile and Skills are:



Professionally qualified accountant (ATT/CTA), or qualified by experience with preferably a minimum of 3 years in a UK firm. If you have NOT worked in UK firms please do not apply Experience in business support work in an accountancy practice. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Willingness to take responsibility and suggest solutions to problems encountered. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Good IT skills including knowledge of tax software. We use taxfiler which is part of the Iris portfolio Track record of work delivered to budget. Ability to analyse figures in a meaningful way. Good time management skills and ability to efficiently organise your own workload. Attention to detail. Good technical (financial reporting) skills. Proven success as a team player but must also be able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation.

Additional Information



Salary will be in line with experience in region of 30,000 to 40,000.

The candidate must appreciate this is a fast paced environment but with the effort put in by the successful candidate, it will provide the stepping stone to a successful career.

You must have worked in a similar role within an accountancy firm tax department if you have not you will automatically be rejected

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm with after probationary period working from home TBC
