This is a Full-time role as Tax Manager reporting to the Head of External Reporting at TG Jones, part of the new structure which has been created.
What you will be doing
Responsibility for the completion of all Group corporate tax computations (1 large "retail trading" computation and a number of small company and branch computations including Jersey, Isle of Man and Guernsey). They will also be responsible for the preparation of the half year and full year tax disclosures, working closely with the Finance team in the preparation of the tax numbers and preparation of periodic tax journals.
Responsible for tax provisioning in the statutory accounts and annual budgeting across taxes.
Liaise directly with the external auditors to ensure the timely completion of the tax provisioning process.
Responsible for the completion of quarterly VAT returns for the group.
Liaise directly with HRMC to resolve any queries arising regarding direct and indirect taxes within the Group (including some high level Customs Duty enquiries)
Develop relationships with external advisers, in order to maximise any tax planning opportunities for the business.
Responsible for answering tax related queries from the business and to proactively input into business development / projects as they arise. Working closely with the relevant business functions, the tax manager will look to present "all tax solutions" to the business.
Who we are looking for
CTA qualified with ideally 3-5 years of mixed tax experience in industry
Accountancy qualification would be advantageous (ACCA)
The successful applicant will possess the drive and ambition to develop the tax role and tax awareness within the business, developing relationships with key stakeholders and showing experience of a muti-functional tax environment.
The candidate must be able to stand on their own two feet and although fully supported by the Finance function, will be able to show a good degree of autonomy in completing their compliance and day to day responsibilities.
Some knowledge/experience of payroll and stamp taxes would be an advantage but is not essential.
