Due to our ongoing growth as a firm and ambitious 5-year strategy, our Training & Competence team is expanding to support the growing regulatory requirements in this area.
Based in our Leeds Head Office, you will be a key contributor to ensuring the firm delivers an effective Training & Competence scheme for all regulated individuals within the firm
You will join our small, well-established team of Training & Competence supervisors and analysts, each covering several locations across the UK, sharing your own expertise and knowledge to help develop our T&C framework.
Your key responsibilities would be:

  • Undertaking training needs analysis and supporting front facing staff to achieve and maintain alignment with our competency matrix.
  • Providing coaching and developmental feedback to individuals to support competence attainment and continuous professional improvement.
  • Supporting the onboarding, certification, and ongoing assessment of Investment Managers and Stockbrokers.
  • Analysing MI and performance data to identify trends, risks, and additional training needs.
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of group learning sessions, bespoke coaching interventions, and standardised learning modules.
To best succeed in this role, you will already be experienced in assessing competence and portfolio construction and armed with a toolkit of influencing and communication skills to build productive relationships with colleagues.

What we're looking for
Qualifications
Essential:
  • Level 4 CISI Investment Advice Diploma, Level 4 CII, CFA, or equivalent qualification.
Desirable:
  • Relevant Level 6 / Level 7 qualification or actively working towards one.
  • Alternatively, consideration will be given to candidates with advanced academic qualification (e.g. MSc, MBA) or evidence of substantial professional experience demonstrating equivalent technical competence in portfolio management, coaching, or business development.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Solid understanding of the FCA T&C framework and associated supervisory requirements.
  • Experience in a regulated environment, ideally within investment management, financial planning, or wealth management.
  • Proven experience in competence assessment, coaching, and structured feedback delivery.
  • Working knowledge of portfolio construction, suitability assessment, and client risk profiling and a willingness to develop this further.
  • Experience supporting client-facing professionals with development or performance improvement activities.
Skills & Behaviours
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory expectations, particularly under COBS and Consumer Duty.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of building trust and rapport across diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret MI and identify competence trends or risks.
  • Constructive and diplomatic approach to providing challenge and feedback.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Coaching mindset and commitment to professional development, both personal and organisational.
