Burneston CE VA Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive rural primary school serving 124 children across five mixed-age classes from several villages in the local area. As a Church of England school, we embrace families from diverse faith backgrounds and none, fostering a community of respect and d values. We pride ourselves on delivering a vibrant, responsive curriculum tailored to our pupils' needs. In July 2023, Ofsted recognised our progress by awarding us a Good rating, reflecting our commitment to continuous improvement since our previous Requires Improvement judgement in 2019. Our last SIAMS inspection in 2019 also graded us Good, highlighting our strong Christian ethos.

The governing body is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and inspirational teacher to work for 2 days a week (Thursday and Friday), alongside an experienced job- teacher, commencing 5th January or 13th April 2026. If the successful candidate is able to start in January, they will be initially working for one term in our Year 3 class, before moving to our EYFS/Year 1 class when staff return after maternity leave (April 2026).


You will work alongside our class teachers in a supportive team. ECT applicants are welcome to apply, we have strong mentor and tutor support in school to further your development.


We are a small village Church of England primary school, just outside Bedale, with 124 happy children on roll.
