Job Description


  • Good Honours Degree in relevant discipline or relevant experience.
  • ECT/QTS.
  • Qualified / able to teach Design and Technology to KS4
  • Qualified/ able to teach a second subject
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience of teaching Design and Technology in a secondary school (as teacher or as trainee teacher)
  • Knowledge of recent subject specific issues and of current resources for teaching Design and Technology.
  • The Principles of effective teaching and assessment.
  • Ability to use a range of effective pedagogy to engage and inspire students.
  • Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of what makes a highly effective Design and Technology curriculum across all key stages.
  • Ability to assess diagnostically and accurately to ensure all students make expected progress.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills including ICT skills.
  • Ability to exercise control in the classroom and encourage good behaviour.
  • An enthusiasm for Design and Technology in general and the ability to generate this in others.
  • Ability to plan, organise, review and adapt
  • Knowledge of Bromcom or similar MIS system.
  • Commitment to demonstrating a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Demonstrate Christian values, uphold the college mission statement and be a role model for others.
  • Demonstrate personal enthusiasm and commitment for development.
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to challenge, which seeks solutions to problems and addressed difficulties with cheerfulness and good humour.
