We are currently seeking an excellent Teacher of History who can deliver to a high standard for Rydal Penrhos Senior School from January 2026.
The successful candidate will be accountable to the Humanities Faculty Lead and will be responsible for the delivery of the History curriculum. Responsibilities will include:
To demonstrate sound classroom practice and innovation
To teach History across the ability range at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
To mark and assess work regularly and to take part in the department's quality assurance procedures
To monitor student progress and set targets to ensure expected progress is achieved
To work as part of a team, attend regular meetings and provide a major input into departmental development
To develop the contribution of vocational studies to the School Improvement Plan
To participate in the school's weekly enrichment programme
To contribute to the wider life of the school
To participate in the school's programme of continuing professional development
The willingness to teach another vocational subject would be advantageous but is not essential.
Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration
Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.
Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils.
Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.
The Role
To be considered for this particular role, you will need to be a creative and imaginative Qualified Teacher who has previous experience in a secondary school environment.
History sits in the Humanities Faculty; a strong department within the school and comprises Business Studies, Geography, History, Religious Studies, PHSE and Economics. At Key Stage 4 and 5 History is a popular option with pupils taking the Edexcel qualification. Results are consistently high and above national average.
The successful candidate would be joining a friendly and well-established team all of whom have their own teaching base within the Humanities Faculty. Full continuing development is offered to all staff.
