An outstanding teacher of Learning Support is required for September 2025 or January 2026. City of London School has a long-standing record of high academic achievement (95% of A-level entries gained Ato B grades in 2024). There is also much happening in terms of co-curricular activities, and all staff are expected to be fully involved in School life.
This selective School requires a graduate, ideally with a postgraduate SEND qualification (Level 5 and Level 7 Specialist Teacher/Assessor Qualification) to work in its Learning Support Department. The role will require involvement in the support of academically able pupils who have specific learning differences and/or disabilities. Candidates should ideally be qualified to request Access Arrangements for public exams and must have communication skills appropriate to developing clear and positive interactions with pupils, parents and academic staff. Expertise in study skills for secondary school curriculum, executive function coaching and competence using IT are highly desirable.
We recognise that our staff body does not reflect the ethnic, cultural and social diversity of the broader CLS community. We warmly welcome applications from anyone with the relevant skills and ability, and particularly from those who may not have previously thought of applying to a school such as ours. We use an anonymised application process. All appointments will be made on merit, following a fair and transparent process.
CLS was named by the Sunday Times as London Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020, and occupies fine, modern buildings near St. Pauls Cathedral overlooking the Thames, opposite the Tate Modern. There are impressive off-site sports facilities in south east London.
CLS Teaching Pay Scale 38,190 - 62,640 pro rata (plus two progressions points to 64,680 to 66,780 2024 - 2025). The post would be suitable for an ECT (we provide statutory induction) or a colleague with more experience.
City of London School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
